The specification required a user to signup to a third-party mailing list before they could gain access to the downloads.
Whilst Optin Monster is very powerful, it could only take me so far. So with a bit of lateral thinking, I built some custom code that only allowed a user who had submitted their email address, to be able to download the reports.
Another requirement was to build a private logged in area for their staff. So using built-in features of WordPress, as well as some customised templates, I built an easy-to-use interface.
As is often the way with this kind of work, one of the main challenges is always developing and building new functionality sympathetically to what’s already there. And when working with third-party themes, this can become quite time-consuming.
- Integrating Optin Monster and a bespoke download section
- Developing a private logged in area
- Easy to update by using normal WordPress posts and pages
